We're just a week out from the public release of iOS 9. and the operating system is already getting its first update. iOS 9.0.1 is primarily focused on fixing small-but-annoying bugs in the OS.

According to the release notes, the update fixes a problem where some users couldn't complete the setup assistant process after upgrading. Issues that would keep alarms and timers from going off, distort paused video in Safari and Photos, and break custom APN settings installed via profiles have also been fixed.

We've gotten some notes from readers about the setup assistant bug. After updating to iOS 9, some users who tried to press "continue" to walk through the assistant had their iDevices lock up and get stuck in a loop. If you have a device that's acting this way, you ought to be able to download and install the update through iTunes.

The update is available through iTunes or as an OTA download for everything that runs iOS 9, including the iPhone 4S or newer, iPad 2 or newer, all iPad Minis, and the fifth- and sixth-generation iPod Touches.
