Luvleen Kaur: I had the same problem. The best solution I read was at Mobile Community. My screen is lifted (phone fell down)В from the left top corner. When my screen went black while making a call, I pressed the left top corner, and it became normal again. But it's not a permanent solution. Get a T5 screwdriver to fix the screen ( if that causes the black screen!) ;)

Owen Elves: i have a very new lumia 520 which has no screen protector and have problem with the black screen of death when calls come in and when make calls,yes i press the side button and comes on for a few seconds - have to move fast to end call (crazy)

but im thinking of taking the phone apart and removing the proximity sensor altogether and setting the screen off to 30 seconds maybe 1 minute,would this work?п»ї
