Android. Alarm Not Works When Phone Turned Off?

I am am recent migrant from Blackberry. One of the nice things on the BB was that when you set the alarm, you can switch the BB off overnight and be sure that at the set alarm time, the BB wakes and the alarm goes off. The alarm on the HTC Desire does not seem to do that - i.e. when I turned it off overnight it did not wake when the alarm should have gone off. I tried a couple of other alarm apps and no luck. Is there an alarm app for my requirement? Or is this not possible with an Android phone?

1 year and a half with Android and I still didn't figured out the answer to that. Feature and dumb phones can do that, what stops a smartphone with Android doing that? LT26i

Any way to make the alarm ring even when the phone is completely turned off. I had a problem with my phone that it couldn't charge when it was turned on, and I found out that it was the socket's problem. I got it fixed. But during this time, I had to use a very old Nokia as an alarm. Is there any way to make the alarm ring even when the phone is off?

I read a few similar threads, and some said no. But aren't there apps that schedule automatic power on and off? Some phones actually have this built-in. Is there an alarm clock app that has the feature to power the phone on and ring?

I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy SII (i9100G) with CM11.

So, has anyone found an alarm clock app that works when phone is completely off yet??

Been reading about this and it goes back as far as Octber 2008. WTF is going on. Sony are bound to have a simple fix for this.

All of my sony ericsson phones before (including the satio) had a working alarm clock when i turned my phone off at night time.

As far as I'm aware the standard alarm clock will not alarm when the phone is switched off. Does anybody know an alarm clock that will alarm when the phone is switched off. (preferably free)

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. Good Alarm Apps That Allows To Turn Phone Off And Alarm Would Still Ring

Are there any good alarm applications for the X10i?

Basically I use my phone as an alarm to get up for work. My old Nokia N96 I could set the alarm and then switch the phone off at night and the alarm would still go off on time. This does not seem to be the case with the X10i. It doesn't even go off when the phones in airplane mode which is poor. I just don't want to have to leave my phone on overnight in case it rings and i wake up.
