Some of the store in Singapore offers iPhone without contract. Price for 16GB are priced at SGD1390.
Now O2 has announced their Pay and Go Price. The iPhone 3G 8GB for Pay & Go will be available for £349.99 and the 16GB version for £399.99, from 16 Septmeber 2008 onwards. Using the convertion rate SGD 896 and SGD 1022 respectively. Can you believe it? This is a lot lower than what we are getting in local store! Bare in mind that electronic goods item in UK normally cost much higher, this post the question – why is this happening?
This make me more disgusted since Singtel imposed $800 penalty for whoever break contract or change subscription plan, compare to the usual amount of $250 or latest $350. I am not sure if the same amount applies to those who signed up Premium Plan and get iPhone free, but as far as I know the same clause applies to iTwo Value, iOne Plus. They told you $800 was the amount they subsidies you. I have no idea why they use the flat rate, no matter how much you pay to purchase the phone. So literally, your iPhone cost you:
- iTwo Value & iFlexi Value – 16GB cost you $508+$800=$1308
- iOne Plus – 16GB cost you $848+$800=$1648
The amount look absurb, especially for iOne Plus users – you are subsidising the rich people!
